I hate buying new releases - I usually stick to buying the older shit I dont have because
most of the new shit coming out is mediocre I feel. But every now and then i’m compelled
to hear some new shit. I gotta give it up to the homies T-Dubb and TRMNDUS for
suggesting this cd to me, because otherwise i might have completely slept on this shit.
First off Mitchy is from San Diego, CA, more specifically South-East San Diego, a hotbed
for talented artists including Lil C.S., Jayo Felony, Big June Nigga, Ecay Uno, and more.
Mitchy’s a gang banger and has no qualms letting you know where he’s from and what he
represents. The album starts off with a cool lil intro with some elementary school age kids
talking bout the neighborhood gang and the “big homies”. You can hear the admiration in
these kids’ voices talkin about how some “niggas got smoked the other day” and “there
was blood everywhere”. Then Mitchy comes on and talks for a minute about the choices
he made as a youngster.
The intro leads into track 2, my personal favorite, which is titled “Regular Nigg’n”. THIS
IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS I’VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME! On this track mitchy
talks about how even though he raps, he’s still on the grind. “Mitchy slick’s a rap star, i
wish u would’ve told that fed/before he kicked down my door and put his boot on the
back of my head”... there’s only one way to describe the beat to this song.. BANGIN!!!!
E-Low produced this track. I dont know who he is, but he hooked up a tight ass beat for
this song. “Yeah Dat” is the next song is a banger just like the previous cut. E-Low
produced this track as well. It features san diego underground rappers Damu and Don
Diego. Everyone comes tight as fuck on this track and the beat is hard ..
“Hate Factor” featuring Yukmouth is track 4. Another tight ass track. I’m not even a
Yukmouth fan but he comes pretty tight on this track. Mitchy defintely outshines Yuk on
this track though. Track 5 is a short news-report type interlude talking about gangs which
leads up to title track “Trigeration Nation”. The fist couple of times I heard this song i
wasnt feelin it too much, but i’m really diggin this song. The beat, produced by E-Cay is
hella tight. Its got that southern-cali summertime “drop the top” type beat- Some shit u
can cruise to. WOOM WOOM WOOM (u gotta hear the song to know what im talkin
about). “Thugin for a Living” is next up and features Chance Capone and Cricet. For
those that dont know, Cricet not only raps but he produces some bangin beats. In fact,
cricet produced this song and every track on the album after this. This song starts off with
a tight ass bassline and mitchy flows first...
“Now everybody wondering when mitchy slick’s shit gon’ drop, is he fuckin wit jinx is he
really even hot?/ Shit, hotter than the rider used when yo dead homie got got, but colder
than this burial plot”. The beat to me sounds kinda like a NY type beat, which isnt a bad
thing. In fact one of the things i like about this cd so much is the diversity in the
production department. It keeps the album from getting boring. Track 8 is another one of
my personal favorites and is called “BringinDaWholeSet”. Mitchy goes solo on this one
and flows tight over a hard ass mobb type beat. THIS TRACK KNOCKS!!! “im a
southern cal nigga i add pumps till the bitch flips over, i can shoot straight drunk so fuck
being sober/flow wickeder than the 31st of october”
“Bowtie Brigade” is track 9 and is another song with that summer-vibe. Its a tight ass
song about racing and lowriders. “Nigga U know how much my mothafuckin engine
costs? / about as much as u spent when ya car was bought”. E-40 joins the line-up for
track 10, which is called “Connected”. This is tight cut talkin about hustlin’. 40 Water
laces one of his trademark off-beat verses and Mitchy completely outshines him on this
track. In all honestly the song wouldve probably been better without E-Feezy but his name
on here will probably help mitchy sell a few copies so fuck it. The next cut is a
interlude/skit where mitchy and his homie have to check a bitch who aint loyal to the set.
This leads into one of the best songs on the album “Fuck Bitches”. This cut is all about
hoes who grew up in a neighborhood and switch up to date niggas from rival gangs.
Problum Child, Mali, and Don Diego are all featured on this track and they all rip shit.
Plus the beat on this song is HARD AS FUCK. “what side u on hoe? live in the set but
aint got no respect for your own folks, u jank bitch/ what side u on bitch, dont trip when
your house get clacked up with that nigga in it.. just deal wit it”.
“Groupie” is a tight ass song about hoes who wanna be down after you get some fame.
Gene sings the hook on here and has a pretty good voice. The next song is called “Cyber
Grinding” and features Black Mikey. I aint really feelin this track at all so i wont speak on
it too much. The beat aint bad but the subject matter of this song is kinda dumb to me.
The next track is a funny ass skit called where mitchy and some homies are rollin in a
bucket about to ride on some fools. U gotta hear this oen for yourself but this skit always
gets me laughin when i hear it. Anyways the skit leads into another tight ass track called
“What If”.. the hook goes “what if you seen a nigga that dumped on u? u aint even gotta
tell me homie what u’d do/ so why the fuck u be out in the night life flossin, u gon fuck
around and get yo ride turned into a coffin”. Next up is “Wrong Kind Anthem” which
features Don Diego. i Dont know how many times i can say this, but - This is yet another
banger with a tight fucking beat. Don Diego and Mitchy both spit heated verses. “Maniac”
is next up and features Guce and Mally. This is a tight song, but doesnt stand out as well
as most of the other tracks on here. Its a really good song though. The last song on here is
called “Young Homies” and is a great way to end the album. On this track mitchy talks
about how shit has changed in his set since he was a youngsta. Its got a nice laid-back beat
and mitchy lays down some tight verses.
Overall this album is a MUST BUY for any fan of west coast rap. I honestly havent heard
a west coast release this good in years. If you thought jayo’s album was hot, you will get
third degree burns from this one. PICK THIS SHIT UP IMMEDIATELY!!!
